THE STORY OF RED CLOUD
Red Cloud was brought to our attention by several Houston area rescue groups; with the social media thread at that time having already 800 comments. He was living on the streets of Cleveland, Texas. SRT watched his situation for several days, and when it was obvious no Houston rescues were going to help him, we stepped in to help. No, he’s not a Samoyed….not even a little bit; but he was in a very bad place and needed help. Brat Hilton picked him up and took him to Rainbow Dog Boarding in Plantersville, Texas. The awesome owner at Rainbow fell in love with him and took excellent care of him while SRT arranged transportation. He was extremely thin; his coat & skin & coat were in terrible condition. He was about 25# underweight.
He was named after the Oglala Sioux Chief Red Cloud that lived from 1822-1909. He was one of their greatest and most inspirational leaders of all time. He was also a very feared warrior. An Embark DNA test showed he was mostly 41% Alaskan Malamute, 24% Husky, 9% German Shepard Dog, and some other breeds. He may look like a warrior but is just a big floofball that just wants to play and get belly rubs. He loves everyone one and everything, (cats unknown…..its a Malamute thing). To meet him is to fall in love with him. Everyone loves him!
